The Michigan City Parks & Recreation Department staff consists of Red Cross certified lifeguards stationed at designated swim area area at Washington Park lakefront. We guard the waters from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Guarded hours are 10:00AM to 5:00PM Monday through Friday; and 10:00AM to 6:00PM Saturday and Sunday.

We are seeking interested individuals who hold (or have held) a Red Cross Lifeguard certification for the summer 2013 season. An application can be found at:

Return the application to the personnel department at city hall. Interested applicants will also be required to attend tryouts. Tryouts will be May 17th at 5pm in the Elston Middle School pool.
